When you come to Pigeon Forge, pencil in a trip to Cades Cove.
This was my first time to visit Cades Cove, but it won't be my last. We got up a 5 am. Unfortunately a wrong turn and a need for gas delayed our trip, so we didn't get there are early as we had hoped.
Even still, the morning sky was beautiful and our quest to see a bear was fulfilled.
We knew that we were destined to see a bear as I had no memory card for my camera and the battery was dead. All I had was my phone's camera and that isn't saying much. We saw tons of deer, which if you look carefully you can see grazing across this field.
There were also turkeys, with the toms showing off their feathers for the girls.
We saw one bear with a frolicking cub and a coyote.
One bear isn't enough for us, so I am already planning a return trip when my gas tank is full and minus the wrong turn.
It is approximately a 40 minute drive to Cades Cove and depending on the traffic and how quickly or slowly you want to take things, it can take two hours or more to drive the 11 mile loop. There are stops along the way where you can get out and check out various churches and homes. Be sure to bring your camera, the scenery is gorgeous.
Here is a link for more information. We have directions to Cades Cove for you in the manual at our cabin.
